Released on November 22, 2019, “I Know The Kick (Black Asteroid Remix)” delivers a powerful industrial techno experience. Austrian producer Florian Meindl created the original track for his Nonlinear Times album. However, Black Asteroid transforms it into something darker and more aggressive. Bryan Black drives the remix with heavy bass, pounding drums, and a locked-in 135 BPM groove. Meanwhile, electric guitar injections add a sharp industrial edge. As a result, the track connects warehouse techno with industrial rock. The remix appeared as the lead track on Nonlinear Times Remixes, which reworked material from Meindl’s original album.
Florian Meindl has built a strong reputation within underground techno. He combines detailed sound design with modular synthesis and powerful club rhythms. Moreover, he created the original Nonlinear Times material inside his Berlin “Techno bunker.” His extensive Eurorack setup helped shape the album’s distinctive sound. Black Asteroid brought his own remarkable background to the project. Bryan Black began his career as a sound designer and keyboard technician at Prince’s Paisley Park Studios. Consequently, Prince’s precision and experimental approach influenced his later electronic work. Black Asteroid later developed an aggressive style that blends techno, electro, industrial, and rock. He also created runway soundtracks for designers including Rick Owens and Raf Simons. For Nonlinear Times Remixes, Meindl gave Black Asteroid complete artistic freedom. Thus, the producer could dismantle and rebuild the track without restrictions. The resulting remix captures that freedom through brutal rhythms, real guitar, and relentless energy. It remains a strong example of how industrial techno can cross into other musical worlds.
