Chris Connelly returns with “House of 70s,” released August 18, 2026. The track leads his upcoming tribute album, Doo Wop In The Dark: A Portrait of Lou Reed. Shipwrecked Industries will release the 21-track album on October 16, 2026. Connelly co-produced the song with Sons of the Silent Age bandmate Alan Berliant. Together, they create a gritty portrait of Lou Reed’s 1970s New York. Moreover, the track captures a city where the hippie dream had faded. In its place, nightlife became darker, stranger, and more chaotic. Retro radio ads and atmospheric samples immediately establish that distinctive period. Meanwhile, the lyrics explore drag culture, stimulants, street life, and Reed’s biting humor.
For the accompanying video, Connelly turns to Someoddpilot Studios. Chris Eichenseer directs the visual, which expands the song’s decadent atmosphere. Contemporary dancers Kira Leadholm, also known as Madame Reaper, and Jay Drenkula perform in the film. Their movement adds another layer of tension and theatricality.
