Today’s video of the day is Soft Vein – “Gray Space” released in 2025.

Soft Vein has released a new video for the song “Gray Space,” directed by Luan Sandkühler. The track appears on the 2025 album Through Blinds, out now on Artoffact Records. The video, filmed and edited by Sandkühler, mirrors the song’s cold intensity and emotional weight. Visuals pulse with dim light, echoing the track’s shadowy atmosphere. Soft Vein is the darkwave solo project of California-based artist Justin Chamberlain. He launched the project in 2022 with the single “GIVEUPTHEGHOST.” That debut blended haunting melodies with brooding synths. It was self-produced and mixed by Ewan Kay of KONTRAVOID. Since then, Soft Vein has developed a sound that fuses industrial, electronic, and darkwave influences.

Themes of longing, obsession, and human vulnerability shape the music. The debut album Pressed in Glass, released in October 2023, introduced this emotional intensity. It offered a sharp yet romantic view of darkness and desire. Now, Through Blinds expands on that vision. It dives deeper into isolation and intimacy, with “Gray Space” at its emotional core. The song stands out for its cinematic feel and lyrical tension. Chamberlain’s layered vocals and sharp production create a sense of internal collapse. Yet, there is also beauty—just beneath the surface. This mirrors the tone of Pressed in Glass but with more maturity and refinement.

“Gray Space” connects both albums. It shows how Chamberlain has grown as a songwriter and visual storyteller. The use of minimal visuals in the video lets emotion lead. Sandkühler’s direction adds raw energy without distracting from the song itself. Soft Vein continues to carve a space in the modern darkwave scene. Chamberlain’s work with Harsh Symmetry also adds depth to his creative world. That band performed at Grauzone in 2024, proving Chamberlain’s reach across dark electronic genres. With Through Blinds, Soft Vein offers a more focused and immersive experience. “Gray Space” leads the way, pulling listeners into a world of tension, romance, and emotional truth. The video strengthens that pull, making it an essential piece of the project’s evolution.
