Today’s video of the day is Cubic 22 – “Night In Motion” released in 1991.
Cubic 22 was a Belgian electronic music duo, formed by producers Peter Ramson and Danny Van Wauwe. Emerging from the vibrant new beat scene, they were part of the UK’s burgeoning house music scene. Released on the Big Time International label founded by Jos Borremans and a member of Lords of Acid at the very start. Their breakthrough single, “Night in Motion,” released in 1991, catapulted them to fame. This infectious track seamlessly blended elements of house and techno, captivating audiences with its pulsating beats and catchy melody. The song’s success led to appearances on popular TV shows like Top of the Pops, further solidifying their status as influential figures in the electronic music world. “Night in Motion” is featured in Dance Dance Revolution 4th Mix and Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 2 as a playable song. The main synth hook of the track was sampled and reproduced in Strike’s mid-90s house chart hit U Sure Do.
“Night in Motion” was featured on their debut album, Cubic 22. This album showcased their diverse range of electronic sounds, from energetic dance tracks to more introspective ambient pieces. While “Night in Motion” remains their most iconic song, the album as a whole offers a glimpse into their innovative and experimental approach to music production. After the release of Cubic 22, the duo continued to release music under various aliases, exploring different genres within the electronic music spectrum. While they may not have achieved the same level of commercial success as “Night in Motion,” their impact on the electronic music scene is undeniable. Their innovative production techniques and forward-thinking approach to music have inspired countless artists and continue to resonate with fans today.
