Today’s video of the day is Covenant – “Ritual Noise” released in 2006.
Covenant‘s song “Ritual Noise,” from their 2006 album Skyshaper, captivates listeners with its rhythmic beats and profound lyrics. The band, friends since 1986, released their first album Dreams Of A Cryotank in 1994 after a demo tape in 1992. The original line-up included vocalist and songwriter Eskil Simonsson, keyboardist and lyricist Joakim Montelius, and keyboardist Clas Nachmanson. In 1998, Covenant faced a turning point. After releasing two more albums and several singles/EPs, their North American label, 21st Circuitry, collapsed. They then partnered with Metropolis, releasing the Euro EP. On July 13, 1999, Metropolis re-released their first three albums and the Theremin EP.
The band continued to evolve. In 2007, Daniel Myer (Haujobb/Architect) replaced Clas Nachmanson. Since 2010, Daniel Jonasson (Dupont) has been performing live in place of Montelius. Despite these changes, Joakim Montelius and Eskil Simonsson still create music together, even while living in separate countries. Montelius resides in Barcelona, Spain, while Simonsson lives in Berlin, Germany. “Ritual Noise” is a standout track on Skyshaper. The album continues Covenant’s legacy of combining deep electronic beats with thoughtful lyrics. The song’s intense rhythm and evocative words make it a favorite among fans. The track is a perfect example of the band’s ability to blend industrial and electronic music.
For the video, clips from the 2005 movie Immortal by Enki Bilal were used. The visuals from Immortal perfectly match the song’s atmosphere, creating a captivating experience. The video was put together by YouTube user “Ononyma”. Covenant’s music has always pushed boundaries. From their early days with Dreams Of A Cryotank to the complex sounds of Skyshaper, their evolution is remarkable. Each album builds on the last, showcasing their growth as artists.
In conclusion, “Ritual Noise” exemplifies Covenant’s enduring talent and creativity. The video by Ononyma, featuring Immortal clips, adds a new dimension to the song. Fans of both Covenant and Enki Bilal will find this video a must-watch.
