Today’s video of the day is the Boys Noize – "Mayday" (Snowden O.S.T.) released in 2016.
Boys Noize, born Alexander Ridha, has pushed hard electronic music since the mid-2000s. He broke through with Oi Oi Oi and then expanded his sound on Power and Out of the Black. However, he never stayed in one lane for long. Instead, he blended techno, electro, and punk energy into his own signature style. Because of that, his music hit clubs while still sounding sharp and political.
“Mayday” became the title track of his fourth studio album, Mayday, released in 2016. At the same time, it gained a second life through Oliver Stone’s film Snowden. Boys Noize also worked directly on the Snowden O.S.T., which made the connection even stronger. The title refers to a distress signal, and therefore the song feels like a warning. It builds tension fast, then drives forward like a siren.
The “Mayday” music video, directed by collaborators LIL INTERNET and Susboy, matches that message. It mixes exclusive film footage with surveillance imagery and hard facts about government spying. As a result, it feels like a digital alarm going off in real time. In the movie, the track plays during a flashback with Edward Snowden riding through Geneva. So, the song becomes part of the story’s momentum. Compared to earlier Boys Noize albums, Mayday sounds darker and more urgent. Yet it still keeps the aggressive pulse that defines his catalog.
