Today’s video of the day is Ministry – "Twilight Zone" released in 2018.
The video for “Twilight Zone” by Ministry delivers a dark, surreal journey. Released in 2018, the track appears on the band’s fourteenth album, AmeriKKKant, out now on Nuclear Blast. The song blends haunting visuals with political commentary, staying true to Ministry’s signature industrial metal sound. AmeriKKKant marked a powerful return for Ministry after a five-year break. It followed From Beer to Eternity (2013), which featured late guitarist Mike Scaccia. Scaccia passed away in 2012, making AmeriKKKant the first album without his presence since The Last Sucker (2007).
Like their earlier Anti-Bush trilogy—Houses of the Molé, Rio Grande Blood, and The Last Sucker—AmeriKKKant is a concept album. This time, the focus is on former U.S. President Donald Trump. Most tracks, including “Twilight Zone,” use samples of Trump’s speeches to drive the message home. The video for “Twilight Zone” mixes retro footage with glitch effects and military imagery. It evokes paranoia, confusion, and chaos—matching the song’s theme. Al Jourgensen, Ministry’s founder, leads the charge with fierce vocals and a biting message.
Originally, Jourgensen claimed From Beer to Eternity would be the band’s last album. However, grief gave way to creativity. By 2017, Ministry started writing again. The result was AmeriKKKant, featuring guest artists like Burton C. Bell (Fear Factory), Arabian Prince (N.W.A), DJ Swamp, and Lord of the Cello. Ministry debuted “Antifa” live in May 2017, building hype for the album. By September, they signed with Nuclear Blast. The full album dropped in March 2018, complete with political artwork and a clear stance. “Twilight Zone” stands out as one of the album’s most atmospheric tracks. It ties the themes of resistance, media manipulation, and disillusionment together. The video enhances the mood, adding another layer to the experience. Ministry continues to evolve, even after decades in the scene. Their sound remains aggressive, political, and fearless. AmeriKKKant proves the band still has much to say—and “Twilight Zone” says it loud.
