Today’s video of the day is Eisenfunk – “Pong” released in 2011.

Eisenfunk, founded by Michael Mayer in 2006, became known for their hard-hitting electronic beats. The band’s first EP, Funkferngesteuert, was released later that year. In 2007, Arthur Stauder and Toni Schulz joined the group. This lineup solidified Eisenfunk’s place in the industrial music scene. The band released their self-titled debut album, Eisenfunk, in 2007. With powerful tracks, they quickly gained a following. Over the years, Eisenfunk’s music continued to evolve. Their 2010 album, 8-Bit, is a standout, especially with the hit track “Pong.”

“Pong” became iconic for its catchy melody and rhythmic intensity. The song’s video, featuring cybergoth dancers, added to its appeal. This track embodies the 8-bit retro vibe, blending it with Eisenfunk’s signature industrial sound. The 8-Bit album marked a creative high point for Eisenfunk. It followed their earlier albums but pushed their sound further. The band’s ability to mix electronic elements with aggressive beats set them apart. Fans embraced this album, and “Pong” became a defining track for the band.

In July 2012, Eisenfunk played at the Amphi Festival in Cologne. However, by May 2014, the band announced the end of the Eisenfunk project. Their final concert took place on May 17, 2014, in Ingolstadt, Germany. Despite disbanding, their music continued to thrive online. New cybergoth fans discovered and enjoyed their work. In a surprising turn, Eisenfunk announced their reunion in July 2024. After more than ten years, the band revealed plans for a new album later in the year. This news excited fans, old and new, as they eagerly await what Eisenfunk will bring next.

Eisenfunk’s impact on industrial music remains strong. Their ability to blend different electronic styles, as shown in 8-Bit, has kept their legacy alive. “Pong” continues to be a favorite, symbolizing the band’s unique sound and energy. As they prepare for their comeback, Eisenfunk’s music is set to influence a new generation.
