Today’s video of the day is the Nachtmahr – "Nicht Wie Sie" released in 2021.
Nachtmahr’s “Nicht Wie Sie” delivers a defiant industrial anthem about individuality and resistance. Released as a single on September 17, 2021, the track showcases the Austrian project’s aggressive blend of Electronic Body Music (EBM), industrial, and techno. The official music video followed on September 30, after a teaser appeared on September 11. With pounding rhythms and a confrontational attitude, the song rejects outside judgment. Moreover, its message reflects Nachtmahr’s uncompromising identity and distinctive militaristic aesthetic.
Thomas Rainer founded Nachtmahr as his solo electronic project while continuing his work with dark electro band L’Âme Immortelle. Since its emergence, Nachtmahr has developed a signature sound built around forceful beats, driving electronic sequences, and commanding vocals. Tracks such as “Tanzdiktator” and “Alle Lust will Ewigkeit” have also reached No. 1 on the Deutsche Alternative Charts. However, the project’s uniform imagery and authoritarian visual themes have sparked controversy. Rainer has defended these elements as deliberate artistic expression. Consequently, Nachtmahr continues to challenge expectations within the industrial scene.
“Nicht Wie Sie” opens Nachtmahr’s 2021 album Stellungskrieg, reinforcing the record’s confrontational tone from the outset. The track fits naturally into a catalog shaped by militant rhythms, dark electronic textures, and themes of defiance. Furthermore, it carries forward the project’s established sound while reaffirming its rejection of conformity. Rather than soften its approach, Nachtmahr embraces the abrasive energy that defines its earlier releases. The song therefore serves as both an introduction to Stellungskrieg and a statement of artistic independence. Through its direct message and relentless electronic pulse, “Nicht Wie Sie” captures the uncompromising spirit at the heart of Nachtmahr.
