The track became the lead single from <em>Daimonion<\/em>. Moreover, it marked a major point in the band\u2019s evolution. Project Pitchfork formed in Hamburg in 1989 around Peter Spilles and Dirk Scheuber. Over the following decade, they developed a distinctive blend of darkwave, electronic music, and industrial sounds. Their early albums established a darker and more atmospheric style. However, later releases introduced stronger electronic rhythms and polished production. \u201cTimekiller\u201d captures that transition particularly well. Its dark hooks and driving electronics connect the band\u2019s 1990s sound with the emerging futurepop scene.<\/p>\n<p>The song also became Project Pitchfork\u2019s most commercially successful single. It reached number 62 on the German Singles Chart after its release. Meanwhile, <em>Daimonion<\/em> climbed to number 8 on the German Album Chart. That result gave the band one of its strongest chart performances. The album takes its title from the Greek concept of the daimonion. In philosophy, the term describes an inner voice that warns someone against making mistakes. Furthermore, \u201cTimekiller\u201d helped introduce that album\u2019s darker electronic world. Its memorable chorus and rhythmic pulse also made it a favorite in alternative clubs. The accompanying video reinforces the song\u2019s stark and futuristic atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cTimekiller\u201d Maxi-CD also featured a remix by fellow German electronic act And One. As a result, that version became especially popular in dark alternative, gothic, and EBM clubs. The remix gave the song another life on dance floors worldwide. At the same time, the original helped establish <em>Daimonion<\/em> as an important chapter in Project Pitchfork\u2019s catalog. The album followed earlier releases such as <em>Eon<\/em> and <em>Chakra<\/em>, while pointing toward the more polished electronic sound of later records. Therefore, \u201cTimekiller\u201d stands between two eras of the band\u2019s career.
