The track leads his upcoming tribute album, <em>Doo Wop In The Dark: A Portrait of Lou Reed<\/em>. Shipwrecked Industries will release the 21-track album on October 16, 2026. Connelly co-produced the song with Sons of the Silent Age bandmate Alan Berliant. Together, they create a gritty portrait of Lou Reed&rsquo;s 1970s New York. Moreover, the track captures a city where the hippie dream had faded. In its place, nightlife became darker, stranger, and more chaotic. Retro radio ads and atmospheric samples immediately establish that distinctive period. Meanwhile, the lyrics explore drag culture, stimulants, street life, and Reed&rsquo;s biting humor.<\/p>\n<p>For the accompanying video, Connelly turns to Someoddpilot Studios. Chris Eichenseer directs the visual, which expands the song&rsquo;s decadent atmosphere. Contemporary dancers Kira Leadholm, also known as Madame Reaper, and Jay Drenkula perform in the film. Their movement adds another layer of tension and theatricality. As a result, the video reflects the song&rsquo;s restless energy and dark glamour. Rather than simply recreate the 1970s, it channels the era through a modern lens. Therefore, the visual complements Connelly&rsquo;s musical portrait of Reed and his world.<\/p>\n<p>Connelly has built a remarkable career across alternative, industrial, and rock music. His work includes influential projects such as Ministry, Revolting Cocks, and Pigface. He also continues his work with Sons of the Silent Age. In 2022, he released <em>Eulogy to Christa: A Tribute to the Music &amp; Mystique of Nico<\/em>. Now, <em>Doo Wop In The Dark<\/em> follows that album&rsquo;s tribute format. However, this time Connelly focuses on Reed and his extensive catalog. The album combines new compositions with reimagined Velvet Underground and solo material. Tracks include &ldquo;Black Angel&rsquo;s Death Song,&rdquo; &ldquo;Sister Ray,&rdquo; &ldquo;The Bells,&rdquo; and &ldquo;Dime Store Mystery.&rdquo; Consequently, &ldquo;House of 70s&rdquo; offers an exciting first glimpse into Connelly&rsquo;s ambitious new project.
