Previously, U96 had gained fame with techno-driven hits like \u201cDas Boot\u201d and \u201cEnergie.\u201d However, by the mid-90s, their sound began to evolve. As a result, \u201cClub Bizarre\u201d leaned darker and more hypnotic. The track became the title song of their third album, Club Bizarre. Moreover, it featured vocals by Skadi Lange. Importantly, the song sampled the melody from Alannah Myles\u2019 \u201cSong Instead of a Kiss,\u201d giving it emotional depth.
