Today’s video of the day is Front 242 – “Headhunter” released in 1988.
Front 242′s “Headhunter” is an iconic track from their 1988 album ‘Front By Front’. Formed in Aarschot, Belgium in 1981 by Daniel Bressanutti and Dirk Bergen, Front 242 evolved with the addition of Jean-Luc De Meyer and Patrick Codenys. Their journey began with “Geography” in 1982, followed by a series of EBM albums, establishing a strong live presence in para-military attire. In 1993, the band underwent a stylistic shift, embracing varied sounds and shedding their militaristic image. Despite a hiatus, they resurfaced in the late ’90s with the Re:boot tour, reimagining their classics in techno flavors. The albums “Pulse” and “Still & Raw” in 2003 marked a return to their EBM roots.
“Headhunter” showcases Front 242’s evolution, blending EBM with experimental elements. Its release coincided with their rising popularity, cementing their status in the electronic music scene. Before Front 242, members engaged in diverse projects like Prothese, Under Viewer, and Tranik Ind., enriching their musical journey.
The song’s inclusion in ‘Front By Front’ underscores the album’s significance in Front 242’s discography, capturing a pivotal moment in their artistic exploration. “Headhunter” remains a cornerstone of Front 242’s legacy, embodying their innovation and adaptability in electronic music.
